Carlo e Camilla in Segheria, haute cuisine in the heart of Milan

On one of my last visits to the Italian fashion capital of Milan, I stumbled on one of the restaurants that has made the greatest impression on me of late—Carlo e Camilla in Segheria—an establishment which has earned a rightful spot among my unmissable restaurants.

Located in an old sawmill right in the heart of the city, Michelin-starred chef Carlo Cracco decided to open his new and sensational restaurant a little more than a year ago. Together with Tanja Solci, a renowned art director and designer, they decided to create this industrial-inspired space, using it as a magnificent and striking stage on which to enthrall the diners who are fortunate enough to enjoy the haute cuisine dishes created by chef Emanuele Pollini Romagna in this unique and magical setting.

Carlo e Camilla in Segheria shines as a majestic backdrop wherein the stark contrast between the outwardly rundown appearance and the minimalist decor comes into play as key elements to enjoy the culinary creations and cocktails on offer.

Two central tables arranged in a cross, in a communal arrangement in which the different diners share the same table—as there are no separate tables—create an extraordinary ambience where antique chandeliers, Richard Ginori tableware, and Capellini chairs, including designs by Jasper Morrison and AG Fronzoni, all blend together to leave a lasting impression. Selected pieces by Ron Arad and Ross Lovegrove—part of Tanja Solci’s personal collection—add the finishing touches to the decorative concept of Carlo e Camilla in Segheria.

The restaurant’s cuisine is essentially based on the showcase and reinterpretation of traditional Italian recipes, with the menu changing every 45 days.

If you’re thinking about visiting Milan, take the time to go to Carlo e Camilla in Segheria. You won’t regret it!
