In one of the most well-known neighborhoods of Amsterdam, near Anne Frank’s house, in Jordaan, we discovered this fabulous industrial style house, which has been refurbished by its owner, Marius Haverkamp, an interior designer specialized in transforming industrial-style spaces. He is the founder of Flow, a Dutch interior design and decoration company.
The house is surrounded by winding canals and narrow streets where one can discover the most innovative fashion shops, and traditional cafés and restaurants. It is built around an interior patio of glass and steel, which leaves each and every room bathed in natural light. The rooms are all decorated with an original touch, respecting the industrial style that characterizes the building.
Hidden from the indiscreet gaze of passersby, access to the residence is unusual. On one side, the entrance is situated in the workshop area of the organically-designed children’s clothes brand created by Emily, Gray Label, and on the other side, through the space where Marius’ company is located.
The exposed red brick walls are the principal feature of the main rooms and the patio. The kitchen, which opens onto the dining room, is the residence’s most important space, and where Marius, Emily and their four children gather around the fabulous wooden table, lit by a black, crystal chandelier, where the family share and enjoy unforgettable moments and after-dinner conversation.
Restored furniture and accessories adorn each and every part of it with unrivaled style and originality, thanks to a simple and very personal decorative style, which reflects the couple’s lifestyle with their children, in complete freedom, respect and harmony with their surroundings.
In short, it is an industrial-style house where the family can enjoy living in the most authentic heart of Amsterdam.
