Eric Vökel and Honestly WTF, a life experience in Barcelona

A few months ago we were delighted to welcome Erica Chan, the international blogger and creator of Honestly WTF, a leading fashion website and a personal point of reference, to the Eric Vökel Gran Via Suites apartments, one of our luxury suites in Barcelona.

It was an unforgettable experience for both the Eric Vökel team and the blogger from San Francisco.

During her stay we advised Erica to enjoy the architecture of the great Antoni Gaudí and his works, each more fascinating than the previous one, scattered around the city. She later told us of her visits to the Sagrada Familia, the Parc Güell, Casa Vicens and the Palau Güell, the latter being the first significant building designed by the modernist architect, located in the street called Carrer Nou de la Rambla, near the city’s world-famous Las Ramblas avenue. Built between 1886 and 1890, it was commissioned by Eusebi Güell, a Catalan industrialist and politician, and also a patron and great admirer of Gaudí’s work.

After her first night in our apartment in Barcelona, Honestly WTF’s creator confided in us that she had felt as if she were right at home, due to the exquisite service of the staff and the perfect layout and decor of the suite where she stayed on her first visit to the city. She was particularly impressed by the design of our headboards with hydraulic tiles, created in honor of the modernist current which pervades the city.

She told us she wanted to visit the market known as the Mercat de la Boqueria, so we invited her to discover a simple, authentic and unique temple of Catalan gastronomy, the Bar Pinotxo. It is a small establishment located in the market itself, bustling, colorful and touristy. It serves delicious market cuisine (a more than appropriate expression) and has been one of the foremost meeting points in the city over many years.

After a few days sharing experiences with our team, Erica Chan waved a tearful but warm goodbye to Barcelona, promising to come and visit us again, because she had fallen in love with the city and, in our Eric Vökel Gran Via Suites apartments, she had found the experience she was looking for.
