Caravan Made: genuine street food, made in Barcelona

For many years now, the Street Food concept has been revolutionizing the food scene in large cities like Barcelona or Madrid. And although you can’t find this type of food right on the street just yet, you can certainly get a taste of this way of life—hugely popular in other countries such as the United States—at festivals and markets.

And Caravan Made, the pet project of two young entrepreneurs, is a great place to start. Javi Ruz and Silvia Cabra—the creators of the most sought-after alternative culinary project of the hour—are the brains behind Caravan Made, as well as its most visible faces.

Javi Ruz studied at the prestigious Hofmann School of Hospitality in Barcelona, and after working at the undisputed number one restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, he decided to forge his own path, buying the caravan that has become his new home, gastronomically speaking. Alongside him is Silvia Cabra, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations. After studying pastry making at the Hofmann School of Hospitality, she decided to embark on the Caravan Made project with Javier, where she puts both her communications background and food know-how to good use.

Since 2013, both of them can be found at the best markets and festivals of the city of Barcelona in their 1970s caravan, to keep evolving—without losing their original essence—until creating other culinary projects with the same trademark creativity and attention to detail. Aside from markets and festivals, Caravan Made offers catering services and celebrations, coming up with highly original ideas that encompass everything from production, decoration, food and beverage service, and flawless presentation, to the utter delight of all guests.
