Carmelitas Tapas: premium dishes with the Tribu Woki guarantee

Barcelona’s gastronomic scene is ever-expanding; new restaurants and first-rate establishments open every week to delight the most discerning tastes.

Carmelitas Tapas, a must-try for lovers of premium tapas and dishes, has quickly become one of the city’s indispensable restaurants thanks to the know-how of Xavier Pellicer—former chef of famous restaurants such as Àbac and Can Fabes—and Tribu Woki, a project of the restaurateur Guido Weinberg, of which Satay Grill, Celeri, Barraca Barceloneta, and Barracuda Castelldefels are part of, among other restaurants.

Carmelitas Tapas is located in the heart of the Raval neighborhood in a former convent of the Carmelites order, right behind the legendary Boqueria market.

It has been conceptualized as a timeless bistro, providing the perfect setting to enjoy the selection of traditional dishes created in the distinctive style of Xavier Pellicer and Rafael Vertamatti. The philosophy behind Carmelitas TapasTribu Woki’s boldest project to date—is based on the discovery of flavors of the world by using local products, the majority of which are from small producers or farmers.

Carmelitas Tapas has dishes such as roasted vegetables and vegetable confit salad with white romescu sauce, cereal and herb crusted tuna tataki with mild alioli sauce, or traditional desserts such as recuit de drap cottage cheese with organic honey and caramelized walnuts. What’s more, the chefs tempt us not only with a wide variety of Asian-style and Asian-inspired tapas, but also with a selection of local and organic wines with Designations of Origin such as Penedés, Priorat, Costers del Segre, and Terra Alta.
