Song, Tea & Ceramics: the tea ceremony in its purest form

In San Francisco, one of my favourite cities in the world, there lie hidden authentic treasures   worthy of being discovered by us mere mortals, especially those, like me, who confess to being lovers of tea, its traditions, its varieties and and its wonderful therapeutic properties.

On one of my last trips to this, the most European city in the United States, I discovered Song, Tea & Ceramics, a true paradise for lovers of age-old Asian culture, because the tea ceremony is a real culture, almost a lifestyle.

Peter Luong is the architect of this wonderful place, in which tribute is paid to a specialized, exquisite and entirely artisanal kind of tea. Similarly, particular affection and enthusiasm imbues everything surrounding the ceremony of consuming the finest herbs: the ceramics.

His proposals, as far as the different teas are concerned, come mostly from China and Taiwan, countries where the small Song, Tea & Ceramics team search for the very best leaves, cared for by hand, to provide teas with structure, texture and complexity, delicious and unique teas which surprise the sense of smell and the palate.

The accessories and ceramic pieces come from small craftsmen in Taiwan, China and the United States. The close collaboration with the artists who make the delicate pieces transforms the products designed and created for Song, Tea & Ceramics into elements fully in keeping with the philosophy and aesthetics defined by Peter. Each of the ceramic proposals displays a mastery of the materials and the production technique of its creator. Each piece is unique, beautiful and of great utility.

The small company’s showroom and tasting room will dazzle visitors with its painstaking interior design, lighting, character and the vital essence to enable them to savour and enjoy its tea collections.
