In the small city of Bromma, in the outskirts of Stockholm, Sweden’s capital, we discover this unique house constructed in 1920. A single-family home surrounded by lush gardens, was personally remodeled by owner Karin Ward, renowned professional in the fashion industry. The house has been transformed into a truly authentic home thanks to her personal style that transmits Nordic design balanced with inherited items and old classics set among four fireplaces and a piano.
The house is Karin’s dream made into reality, a dream she shares with her children Ester and John and their inseparable cat Elvira. Trained at the Beckmans School of Design, she later spent time at multiple different fashion industry-related companies, such as Åhléns, Esprit and Gant Woman, which, in spite of her resistance, have influenced her aesthetic perception, way of understanding life, and her philosophy which governs her stylistic concept. Currently, as Creative Director for the renowned Swedish brand Linum, specializing in high-quality home textiles, she has strengthened her criteria, even more so , in order to convert this old building into an authentic home, filled with details and designs with an incomparable style.
As often occurs in Nordic design homes, the interior design is nourished by history-charged eclecticism, in which pieces from diverse decorative styles are mixed together to create a harmonious combination based on a black and white theme, essential colors in Scandinavian decoration.
Karin draws inspiration from everything she observes through her many travels, from the world of art, music and gastronomy to enjoy her large family, from exquisite moments around the large table, which can seat up to 20 people, in order to experience the authentic happiness that comes from sharing alongside her closest friends and family.
