Only a few meters from the recently remodeled Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona, -re-transformed into a pleasant promenade thanks to its newly widened sidewalks and which stretch from Balmes street to the Francesc Macià Plaza-, we find a new and exquisite restaurant, chef Xavier Pellicer’s new project, his most personal restaurant christened under the name Céleri.
Behind this particular project from the renowned chef hides Tribu Woki, a unique gastronomical initiative based on the search for the roots and authenticity of organic and local products. The project already has 8 extremely high-quality organic restaurants and grocery stores, one of them being Woki Organic Market Marimón, situated just next to Restaurante Céleri.
Xavier Pellicer’s restaurant offers small gastronomic dishes which allow you to enjoy the produce as an essential element from a sensitive and current perspective. The meals are designed around eight in-season vegetables, reinterpreted by the chef and his team, in three distinct forms: one vegan dish, another vegetarian, and the third with animal protein of either meat or fish.
Céleri’s locale, a work by the interior design studio Tarruella Trenchs Studio, shows off an undivided space with an open kitchen and chef’s work counters which extend out towards diners to create a unique dialog between the two. “The public will be able to be with the chefs, observing the meal’s creation form start to finish, from cooking the dish to serving it and bringing it to the table,” stated the chef.
A selection of local, biodynamic and organic natural wines completes the surprising menu.
A restaurant beyond recommendation for those who, like myself, enjoy the alternative gastronomical experiences that Barcelona has to offer.
